Asexuality, an overview

An asexual is someone who does not experience sexual attraction. It is not to be mistaken with - celibacy or abstinence - which are choices. Asexuality, is a sexual orientation just like any other. People are born asexual, just as people are born gay or straight. It is believed that 1% of the population is asexual, although recent research states that this number could in fact be around 2-3%.

An asexual’s life isn’t not any better or worse than a sexual’s, we just face a different set of challenges.
Just because you’re asexual doesn’t mean that you do not have feelings. An asexual person has the same emotional needs as anyone. While some are happier on their own, others are happy with a group of friends, and others will seek a partner for an intimate romantic relationship and will search for a long term relationship.
